With school back in full swing, it is time to welcome back the Student Spotlight that focuses on outstanding and unique students in the north Snohomish County community.

Daneen Natac, a seventeen-year-old high school senior from Arlington encompasses the outstanding aspect in that she truly enjoys school and the activities that school offers her.

Daneen maintains her impressive 3.708 GPA by participating in the school's National Honor Society (NHS) and setting goals for herself in terms of school grades and accomplishments. When she is not volunteering with the other NHS members at local elementary schools, Daneen gets moving on the school's cross country team, for which she has lettered the past three years.

"I think I just like running and staying active. I like being able to have endurance," said the runner.

This young woman also plays the flute and piccolo in the high school's wind ensemble, and enjoys performing at school concerts and football games.

On the weekends when Daneen is not playing in the band, running, or keeping up with schoolwork, she is an altar server at church and attends youth group classes on Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Arlington.

After graduation, Daneen really wants to go to Berkley in California, or "somewhere in California; that's where a lot of my family is and it would be nice to be around them," she said. "I want to study engineering and architecture. I like building things, math and putting things together," said Daneen.

So how does the high school senior do it? Where does she find the time and stamina to keep all of these amazing attributes going?

Daneen simply believes that "I like doing all the activities and I am used to the lifestyle. I think making an impression, setting goals for myself and accomplishing them in high school is important. I want to continue to stay active throughout my life and plan on doing what I want to do in the future."
