The Bridges to Learning Center in Marysville is offering California Achievement Tests (CATs) for students in grades 4 through 12 receiving home-based instruction.

The CAT is a complete battery of tests including language arts, mathematics, social studies, and study skills. Testing is held over three days to insure success. An itemization of errors and conferencing with a certified teacher is available on the fourth day.

"The CAT is very different from the WASL in structure and content," said Patti Deal, administrator for Bridges to Learning, "and we feel the test is a superior form of assessment."

Testing for 4th through 12th grade will be held June 1, 2 and 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Scoring will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 9. The cost is $35 with a parent scoring the test. There is an additional $10 fee for the teacher to score the exam. Testing takes place at Marysville United Methodist Church.

Registration deadline is May 22. To register for the assessment, contact Deal at (360) 658-0105.

Bridges to Learning Center is an educational teaching, testing and consulting business affiliated with Academy Northwest, a non-profit, state-approved private school extension program.
