The Arlington School District is facing a $3 to $5 million reduction in funding for the 2009-2010 school year and must consider cuts to its operating budget as a result.

With an emphasis on transparency and public dialogue, the school board invites community members to a forum April 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Arlington High School. The board will gather public input as they prioritize needs and prepare to make difficult choices for the year ahead.

"The children who walk through our doors each day deserve our very best," said Dr. Kristine McDuffy, Arlington's superintendent. "We must keep the focus while we work to improve the conditions around us. I have complete confidence that we will make it through these challenging times."

Funding cuts may result in program and staffing reductions. The district's Web site, at www.asd.wednet.edu/current, offers the latest news, resources and frequently asked questions, as well as an opportunity for feedback.
