Arlington High School music director John Grabowski will conduct three different groups of student musicians in the last band concert of the season on Thursday, April 9 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and there is no charge for admission.

The Concert Band, the largest of the three groups, includes over 70 freshmen in its ranks. Sophomores through seniors perform in the 50-member Symphonic Band, while another 50 sophomores, juniors and seniors have been chosen for the prestigious Wind Ensemble.

The concert also marks Senior Recognition Night, with nearly 30 seniors applauded for their contributions to the school's music programs.

Later this school year, the Wind Ensemble group will travel to Anaheim, Calif., to record a Disney soundtrack and participate in a clinic at Cal State Long Beach. The program's two jazz bands will travel to an event in Portland, Oregon, before school is out.

Tickets will go on sale soon for "Swing Into Spring," the annual fundraiser and jazz music dessert dance held in May. Event tickets will be available at Flowers by George and Copy, Mail and More in downtown Arlington.
