Felecia Vadset, an eighth-grade student at Cedarcrest Middle School in Marysville, recently spent a week as a page in the Washington House of Representatives. She was sponsored by Rep. Dan Kristiansen, R-Snohomish.
When her teacher gave her the application for the page program, Felecia said she expected it would be a fun experience. She was not disappointed. As a page, Felecia helped to deliver messages and bills to lawmakers' offices and to the House floor. She especially enjoyed working within the Legislative Building and the House chambers.
The experience was educational as well. In Legislative Page School, Felecia learned the process of writing and passing a bill. If she were to one day become a legislator, Felecia said would try to pass a bill that would provide an alternative to WASL testing.
Felecia aspires to be an elementary school teacher. If she could trade places with any individual for a week, Felecia says it would be with her mother because, "She's cool and does a lot for the community by helping out at church and at school some days." Like her mother, Felecia wants to help people learn.
The 14-year-old daughter of Linda and Dean Vadset of Marysville, Felecia enjoys playing volleyball, helping to manage her school's football team and playing her French horn.
