New principals at Marysville schools

Allen Creek Elementary and Shoultes Elementary will soon be under new leadership, following the recent selection of principals for those schools.

Kristin DeWitte, a 28-year education veteran, will start her duties as principal at Allen Creek beginning July 1. In DeWitte’s most recent assignment within the district, she has been serving as TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) at Marshall Elementary. DeWitte received her administrative credentials at Seattle Pacific University.

Shoultes’ new principal, Janelle McFalls, has more than 19 years experience in education, most recently as TOSA at Liberty Elementary. She also earned her principal certification at SPU.

According to Jodi Runyon, administrative assistant to district superintendent Larry Nyland, a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) typically serves in an administrative capacity.

Elementary schools don’t have vice principals, so TOSAs often act as the principals’ assistants.

The appointments of DeWitte and McFalls are subject to approval by the Marysville School Board.
