Lakewood High names graduation honorees

Sarah DunnChelsea Wendt

LHS senior Sarah Dunn (above, left) has been named the Valedictorian for the 2008 graduating class, and Chelsea Wendt (right) is Salutatorian. The two will present speeches at graduation ceremonies this June.

The academic recognition is based on cumulative grade point average (GPA) from the first seven semesters of high school. To be considered for the top two positions in the class, students must complete advanced algebra or trigonometry, chemistry, physics or advanced biology, college prep English, AP Honors U.S. history and government, as well as taking two years of a foreign language.

The school’s Valedictorian is the graduate with the highest GPA who also satisfies the curriculum requirements, and the Salutatorian holds the second-highest GPA.

Sarah Dunn will graduate with a 3.933 GPA while Chelsea Wendt is close behind with a 3.923 GPA.
