New Arlington schools superintendent named

The Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors unanimously

selected Dr. Kristine McDuffy to be the Superintendent of Arlington Public

Schools Superintendent beginning in July.

School Board President Kay Duskin remarked that the Board was very pleased

with the selection process. "We know that this is the most important

decision we will make as a Board and are confident the process provided us

with all the information necessary to make that decision."

President Duskin referenced well-attended forums with community, staff and

students prior to posting the position and during the interview process,

"There was a high level of interest and participation. We greatly

appreciated input we received at the forums, in writing and during site

visits."

As soon as negotiations are complete, Superintendent Linda Byrnes and

staff will work with Dr. McDuffy to facilitate a smooth transition.
