Drivers in the southeast Marysville and Lake Stevens areas are advised that a full road closure is planned for the SR 9/SR 92 intersection starting on Friday, June 22.
The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on June 22 and reopen at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25.
Detour routes will be provided for all directions along SR 9 and SR 92 through local roads in Marysville and Lake Stevens. Part of the detour routing in Marysville will be along 83rd Avenue from Soper Hill Road to E. Sunnyside School Road.
The closure is to allow for intersection and widening improvements that will ultimately reduce congestion and improve traffic flow. Lead contractor Atkinson Construction will be moving dirt and paving more roadway, adding lanes and turn pockets that will be activated later when a new traffic signal is installed.
The City of Marysville is partnering with the state Department of Transportation to add a new westbound access point at SR 9 and SR 92, creating a new 40th Street NE corridor in the Sunnyside-Whiskey Ridge area.
A closure of the BNSF railroad crossing in Lakewood, west of I-5, was rescheduled to June 19 and 20.
City of Marysville officials encourage motorists to seek alternate routes while repairs are made at the crossing. BNSF has posted detour signs in the impacted areas west of the 172nd/I-5 interchange and Lakewood Crossing shopping center.
