The woman accused of stealing Takoda, a Siberian husky, from a Marysville home in September, pleaded not guilty to charges of trespassing, theft and animal cruelty in Marysville Municipal Court on Jan. 4.

Nancy Howard, co-founder of feralcats.org, was identified from video footage that showed a woman dragging Takoda out of her yard, past an electrified dog barrier, and into a waiting van. The van's driver has not been identified.

Ron and Colleen Smith, Takoda's owners, claim Howard was paid $1,000 by neighbors to kidnap their dog. They suspect the woman also stole three of their four cats.

Howard's court date is set for Feb. 6 at the Marysville Municipal Court, with sentencing, if she's convicted, set for Feb. 16.
