At the Dec. 12 meeting, Marysville's City Council voted to extend its six-month moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries, delaying possible legal action until June of 2012.
On July 11 the Marysville City Council approved a 6-month moratorium for medical marijuana dispensaries. The expiration of this moratorium was Jan. 5, 2012.
During public comments, Joanna Kasner said after suffering life-altering injuries, she was put on strong narcotics. Coming off these narcotics and being treated with kindness and respect was something she valued in medical cannabis dispensaries.
Another citizen noted the use of a medical marijuana dispensary takes some of the risks away from receiving her medicine, medicine she uses for a multitude of things, including fibromyalgia. Said the concerned citizen, "I do not want to endanger myself, my driver, or my caretaker."
City Attorney Grant Weed said, "The law is anything but subtle and that is why we suggest extending the moratorium for another six months."
After hearing from the council and three concerned citizens, Marysville's City Council voted unanimously to extend the 6-month moratorium.
