Housing Hope, a local affordable housing and services agency, and the Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington, a faith-based organization providing emergency shelter for homeless families are being targeted in a fraudulent fundraising scam.
Children are being sent to various neighborhoods in Snohomish County to ask for money to send them to a Housing Hope or Interfaith Association summer camp. The children will ask residents to give them a cash donation or write a check to a specific person, not to the agencies that they claim to be representing.
The children's parents appear to be waiting for them on the sidewalk, usually accompanied by additional adults and children.
Housing Hope and the Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington do not perform or encourage door-to-door solicitation. If you are approached for a donation by someone you do not know to support any program of Housing Hope or the Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington, it is a fraudulent request. Call 9-1-1 and the agency in question to report the activity immediately.
Contact Housing Hope at (425) 347-6556; the Interfaith Association of Northwest Washington can be reached at (425)252-6672.
