The City of Marysville will officially open its newest park on June 11 at 1 p.m., thanks to local developer Belmark Homes.

The homebuilder recently announced its donation of the 1.5-acre park in the Sunnyside area to the City of Marysville. The park, scheduled for completion in early June, is located in the new Shasta Ridge neighborhood and will provide the community with a full-sized concrete basketball court, play and fitness structures and open space.

"With fewer dollars being allocated for public spaces, having open, active areas in our neighborhoods is more important than ever," said Aaron Metcalf, president of Belmark Homes.

Opening ceremonies for the park, located at 3907-82nd Ave. NE, will include a ribbon-cutting by Marysville Mayor Dennis Kendall. This is the second park donated to the city by Belmark, which opened Parkside Way Park in 2005.
