Job training and education classes at the Marysville Goodwill center teach basic skills, job-hunting techniques and even courses in citizenship requirements. The spring session at the center, located next to the store at 9315 State Avenue in Marysville, runs from May 24 through July 15. All the class offerings are free.
Registration for the upcoming classes is open Monday and Tuesday, May 10 and 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Space is limited, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Classes offered include English for Speakers of Other Languages; basic computer skills including training on MS Word, Excel and the Internet; and a Path to Citizenship course. All classes are eight weeks long.
The citizenship course is a test preparation class for low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced speakers and beyond who have started or completed the paperwork to apply for U.S. citizenship. Class participants must be able to read and write some English.
