Tulalip tribal members will devote the entire day on Saturday, March 13, to government business. The annual General Council meeting begins at 10 a.m. that day, and members will elect two representatives to the Board of Directors, then choose officers for the board.
The Tulalip Board of Directors consists of seven members, each of whom serves a three-year term. Standing for re-election to the Board this year is Tony Hatch, who is completing his first term as a director. The other position up for election is being vacated by Stan Jones, who is retiring from the Board after 44 years of service.
Challengers for the two seats are Hilario "Angel" Cortez, Judy L. Gobin, Kim Gobin, Helen Gobin-Henson, Donald Hatch Jr., Mark Hatch, Billie Jo Howlett-Zackuse, Amanda L. Hunter, Charlene James, Martin Napeahi Sr., Jared Parks, Herman Williams Jr., Herman A. Williams Sr., and Keith Williams.
Electronic polling will close at 1 p.m., with winners announced shortly thereafter. Officers-chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and treasurer--will be elected in the afternoon of March 13.
