The restaurant at Cedarcrest Golf Course is now under the management of Robert Thomas, a local man with a long career in food service management. He will operate the casual restaurant under a lease agreement with the City of Marysville, which owns the property and facilities.

Supporters of Pat and Kathy Regan, who operated the Cedarcrest Restaurant at the municipal golf course for six years, were upset when the couple's lease agreement with the city fell apart last year. The Regans missed a deadline to renew their lease, and lengthy negotiations with city administrators finally ended with the couple's departure in October, 2009. They now lease and operate the restaurant at Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington.

According to Mary Swenson, Marysville's chief administrative officer, the city did consider the possible financial benefits of acting as manager of the restaurant with employees hired for daily operations. Officials finally decided that pursuing a lease with a qualified food service company was a better option.

However, Thomas' lease agreement differs from the previous contract in one key area: profit sharing. Following the first year of operation, the city will receive a portion of the restaurant's excess profits in addition to the lease payments.

Thomas is pleased with the changes he's made at the restaurant. New paint colors, a larger bar area and more private dining options are only a few of the alterations. The menu has also undergone a transformation, offering healthy options for kids and adults and incorporating some of his family's favorite dishes.

The restaurant at Cedarcrest Golf Course is located at 6810-64th St. NE. Phone (360) 659-3566 for information.
