Snohomish County is seeking new members to fill openings on several of the county's boards and commissions.

Each December, the county tries to fill empty spots for the upcoming year by finding new members to serve on its boards and commissions, which include the Children's Commission, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Mental Health Advisory Board, the Evergreen State Fair Advisory Board and the Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board.

"Serving on one of the county's boards and commissions is a way to make a difference firsthand," County Executive Aaron Reardon said. "I encourage everyone interested in giving back to their community to consider one of these openings."

The duties, qualifications for service, meeting dates and term lengths for county commissions and boards vary greatly. Members are appointed by the County Council following a recommendation by Reardon.

Potential members are asked to fill out a brief application and return it to the Snohomish County Executive Office, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., MS 407, Everett, WA 98201-4046, for consideration.
