Beginning November 30, commuting by bus got a little easier for Marysville residents.

Construction of the new park and ride lot at Cedar Avenue and Grove Street was officially completed Nov. 30, barely four months after it began.

Approximately 60 construction workers have been onsite during the project, which adds parking for 213 vehicles plus additional spaces for motorcycles and bicycles. The boarding area features a large shelter, and the corner lot has been enhanced with low-maintenance landscaping, new lighting and security cameras. A portion of the stormwater runoff will filter into a rain garden along Cedar Avenue.

Transit representatives hope the park and ride lot's central location will be convenient for commuters and those who are traveling to businesses along State Avenue, just a block east.

Riders will be able to board buses for Route 207 to Boeing; Route 421 to downtown Seattle; and Route 821 to the University District. In addition, local service to Quil Ceda Village, Everett, Lake Stevens, Smokey Point and Lynnwood will be available.

The project's $4 million cost was partially funded by federal grants of $3.2 million.
