Four Marysville City Council seats are up for election this November, but Jon Nehring and Jeffrey Vaughan are running unopposed. The other two positions, currently held by Donna Wright and Jeff Seibert, are being challenged by political newcomers Quinn King and Patrick Larson Jr. respectively.
The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce continues its tradition of providing a forum for local candidates at its October 9 Business Before Hours, held at the Tulalip Casino's Canoes Cabaret beginning at 7 a.m.
The candidates have widely differing views and the challengers have expressed opposition to the ongoing annexation, as well as municipal development proposals and taxation decisions.
The forum will be moderated by Government Affairs committee chairman David Toyer of Toyer Consulting and Advocacy. Each candidate will respond to a series of questions on issues that will impact Marysville's local businesses and residents. The format also allows each candidate to pose a question to his or her opponent.
Business Before Hours is an ongoing monthly meeting sponsored by the chamber. The informative program, which encourages networking opportunities, includes a buffet breakfast. The cost is $23 if pre-registered and $28 at the door. To register, contact Bill Wheaton at billw@marysvilletulalipchamber.com or call (360) 659-7700.
