An afternoon crash in the 7900 block of State Avenue stalled southbound traffic for nearly an hour as emergency medical teams responded to the accident.

A woman in a silver Ford Escort was apparently attempting to make a left turn into the southbound lanes of State Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a car heading north. After fire department personnel extricated the woman from the damaged vehicle, she was transported to Providence Hospital for treatment.
