A car headed westbound on 172nd St. NE in Arlington apparently crossed the center line early Friday morning, September 11, and struck an eastbound motorcycle at 43rd Avenue NE. Emergency personnel from Arlington fire and police departments were dispatched to the accident scene at approximately 5:50 a.m.
The motorcycle and its rider were pushed into a power pole by the force of the accident. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and was located by emergency personnel, along with his bike, in an adjacent field. The car also came to rest in the same field.
The driver of the car was treated at the scene by fire personnel for minor injuries and released. The motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries and was transported to Providence Medical Center - Colby Campus in Everett, and was subsequently transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Arlington police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
