Primary election results are in, and races throughout the county have been narrowed to two candidates in contested positions. Incumbents for a few elected offices in north Snohomish County are running unopposed.
For the Marysville School Board, Heather Thweatt and Chris Nation will vie for the District 1 position being vacated after 16 years by Don Hatch. Hatch's godson, Mark Hatch, came in third in the primary election. Nation, a member of the school district's bond oversight committee, received nearly 40 percent of the primary votes. Thweatt, who has served on the Marysville Cooperative Education Program council, came in second with approximately 32 percent of the votes cast.
The only other local contest impacted by the primary results is in Arlington. City Council incumbent Scott Solla faced off against two challengers for the Position 3 seat, and will campaign against political newcomer Brock Hecla in the November election.
Solla received a large majority in the primary, ending with just over 58 percent of the votes cast. Hecla garnered slightly more than 26 percent of the vote, and the third candidate, Karl Ilonummi, received nearly 15 percent.
