Even clunker cash couldn't save Dwayne Lane's Chevrolet dealership in Arlington. The local car dealer has announced it will close its Arlington location August 31. The business has been a fixture in downtown Arlington for 12 years.

Chevrolet had announced in July that the local dealership was one of those losing its affiliation with the automaker due to company-wide cutbacks.

Tom Lane, president of the local family-owned dealership, said the inventory remaining at the Arlington location will be moved to 7800 Evergreen Way in Everett, which formerly housed Dwayne Lane Dodge. About 10 of the 15 local employees will also make the move.

The new Everett business, which is planned to open September 1, will be named Dwayne Lane's Quality Used Cars.

In January of this year, the city of Arlington won a court battle allowing the annexation of Island Crossing to city limits and paving the way for Dwayne Lane to build a new car lot on property owned by the company next to the freeway.
