Community Transit's newest Park and Ride project, located at the corner of Cedar Avenue and Grove Street in Marysville, is a testament to the increase in bus ridership in north Snohomish County. The lot, which will accommodate 213 cars, will also feature motorcycle spaces and bike lockers.
Joyce Eleanor, CT's CEO, said, "We've seen tremendous growth in ridership in Marysville, and our three existing park and rides here are full every day. In just six years, commuter use between Marysville and downtown Seattle is up 34 percent."
The centrally-located lot, which will feature a covered shelter for passengers, security cameras and a platform for three buses, will provide easy access via Community Transit to Boeing, downtown Seattle and the University District. Passengers can walk about a block to State Avenue to access additional transit routes.
Mayor Dennis Kendall, a member of the Community Transit Board of Directors, praised the agency's decision to add the Marysville Park and Ride lot. "This is a great incentive for people to get out of their cars, save some money and help reduce congestion in our community."
Construction on the lot is expected to be complete in late 2009.
