Snohomish County Sheriff's Office divers were searching a slough just south of Stanwood Wednesday morning, April 15, after a vehicle drove off the road and into the water on Marine Drive near Thomle Road. The incident was reported by a witness shortly before 9 a.m.

One woman in her late teens was pulled out of the icy water by sheriff's deputies Brian Odenborg and Steve Gordon, a firefighter and a civilian shortly after the emergency call came in.

Once the woman was out of the water, Stanwood Police Chief Ty Trenary and Stanwood Sgt. Barry Ruchty performed CPR. The woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Early reports suggested a second person might be in the vehicle, but after searching the area with divers and the sheriff's helicopter, no other victims were spotted.

The divers were out of the water by 11:15 a.m. The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Collision Investigation Unit.

North County firefighters also responded to the incident and worked with deputies and Stanwood officers at the scene.
