After a three-year negotiation process, the City of Arlington has reached a contract with the country's largest cable service provider, Comcast.

Mayor Margaret Larson and the city council members have been publicly discussing the approval of this franchise since the middle of March, and are happy to have reached an agreement. The contract is proposed to last five years and will provide the city with a fully paid public access channel and the opportunity to add another channel in the future.

Customers will be able to tap into the cable giant's entertainment and communication offerings, which include digital cable, high speed Internet, and digital voice services.

Bryan Terry, Arlington's Information Services manager, believes this venture will be a great opportunity for the city and open new doors for future competition. According to Terry, new Comcast subscribers will see a twenty-five cent increase in their bill each month.

There is no set date for the implementation of the contract at this time.
