Homeowners and professional horticulturists alike can learn more about keeping lawns and gardens healthy by attending classes sponsored by WSU Snohomish County Extension. The workshops will be held in the Education Center Auditorium at McCollum Park, 600-128th St. SE, Everett.

Dr. Charles Brun, author of "Small Trees for the Home Landscape," will present the first session on March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. The class will focus on the features of smaller trees best suited to the scale of home landscapes, and a guide to northwest plants. The cost is $45.

Subsequent workshops include "Home Lawns: A Solution to Pollution" on April 6, "Pollination in the Home Garden" on April 14, "Composting Piles and Worm Bins" on April 28 and "Drip Irrigation" on May 12.

The fee for each class ranges from $35 to $45 per person, which covers speaker expenses and course materials. Pre-registration is required, with a minimum of 20 people per class. To register, download the form at www.snohomish.wsu.edu/garden/workshops/registrationform.pdf or contact Karie Christensen at (425) 338-2400 or klchristen@cahnrs.wsu.edu.
