In today's competitive job market, even experienced workers are struggling to find employment. Job seekers who lack training in necessary skills, or who are less fluent in the English language, face additional barriers in the workplace.

Goodwill Industries has a history of helping people find meaningful employment through training and education, and that tradition continues at the Marysville Goodwill, located at 9315 State Avenue.

Program specialist Gusti Clark has announced classes for adults focusing on English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and basic computer classes. The sessions begin March 16 and continue through May 7.

ESOL Basic is held Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes in ESOL Literacy are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and the ESOL Intermediate class is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The basic computer class is an introductory course for those with little or no prior computer experience. Information covered includes basic Windows tools, Word documents, files and folders, the Internet and e-mail basics.

Computer Fundamentals is held Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Microsoft Word classes are taught Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m., with Microsoft Excel sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

In addition to specific skills training, Clark and her staff also offer ongoing workshops that teach skills necessary to survive in the workplace.

For information or to enroll, contact Gusti Clark at (360) 657-4058 or e-mail gusti.clark@seattlegoodwill.org.
