The City of Marysville wants to encourage residents to put away their garbage containers quickly after the weekly pickup, and will use fines as motivation.

Effective March 2, Marysville garbage customers can bring their garbage toters to the curb for pickup no earlier than 24 hours prior to collection time. After collection the containers are allowed to remain at the curb no longer than two business days.

The City has received numerous complaints about garbage, recycling and yard toter bins staying at the curb longer than necessary. The containers can become an obstruction to pedestrians, the handicapped, and street-sweeping vehicles, and they are an unattractive neighborhood nuisance.

Failure to remove toters in a timely manner could result in removal of the container by Marysville Public Works, with a fee of up to $50 to redeliver the container.
