Holiday gala supports Food Bank
by Beckye Randall
Help celebrate a community achievement with a festive evening of fine food, entertainment and fellowship at the new Marysville Food Bank, located at 4200-88th Street, on Tuesday, December 16 from 5 to 9 p.m.
The Christmas Gala is a fundraising event, with all the proceeds going to the food bank's operation. The suggested tax-deductible donation for the evening is $25 per person.
Cindy and Mark Langmas of Moveable Feast Catering will provide festive holiday appetizers, and the evening will feature seasonal choral music performed by the International School of Communication's Choir. Marysville Soroptimists are providing decorations to set a festive mood.
"When we heard about the food bank event, we decided immediately that we wanted to be part of it," said Cindy Langmas. The highly-regarded catering team, which has been in business for 18 years, is donating the food for the gala. "We were honored to be asked to participate," she said.
Steve Fulton of the Marysville Noon Rotary, which is helping organize the fundraising benefit, was excited about the Soroptimists' decorating ideas.
"We're not talking crepe paper and balloons," he said. "The Soroptimists have beautiful, interesting decorated trees that will fill the place with light and warmth. Afterward, the trees will be donated to Operation Marysville Community Christmas for families in need."
Throughout the evening Food Bank volunteers will conduct tours of the new facility, which will celebrate its grand opening after the first of the year.
Businesses and individuals can reserve a table for 10 guests, and groups of any size are welcome. Phone (360) 653-4557 for more information and reservations.
