The city of Arlington introduced its top six candidates for the vacant Chief of Police job to interested residents at an open house held Tuesday, December 2. Interviews with the finalists continued on Wednesday.

The position has been filled temporarily by Lt. Terry Quintrall since former chief John Gray resigned in June. City leaders opted to end Gray's contract four months early, citing the need for "new leadership."

Sullenberger has spent his entire 28-year career with the Boulder, Colo., police department. He currently serves as Boulder's deputy police chief, which includes overseeing patrols, investigations, community services and SWAT teams. Sullenberger earned a degree in police science from New Mexico State University.

City leaders anticipate the new police chief will assume his duties in early 2009.
