North County Outlook earns membership in state newspaper association
Officers of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association (WNPA) voted to extend membership to North County Outlook at the group’s annual meeting earlier this month in Yakima.
WNPA is an advocate for community newspapers, freedom of the press and open government. Its membership includes more than 120 daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly newspapers published in communities around the state.
Beckye Randall, NCO editor, and sales rep Julie Brandt attended the association’s annual convention, taking advantage of workshops on topics that included Writing for Readers, Public Records Requests, Best New Ad Ideas and several others.
The convention also provided an opportunity for Randall and Brandt to meet and share ideas with the staff of similar newspapers from across the state.
Publications applying for membership in WNPA must meet strict criteria for distribution, publication schedules and quality, and must have a record of consistent publication for at least one year. North County Outlook celebrated its one-year anniversary in mid-September.
