Train collision with truck injures only frozen foods

Train derailment near Marysville

A spectacular collision on March 17 between a freight train and a tractor-trailer at 134th Street NE in Marysville caused delays and traffic backups during the day while investigators and cleanup crews were on the scene.

Three engines and one freight car jumped the track, ripping up several hundred feet of railroad track in the process.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

The truck was apparently waiting to make a delivery at Pacific Grinding Wheel Co., although its cargo appeared to be frozen pizzas and cheesecakes.

The Marysville Salvation Army also responded to the train derailment by setting up a mobile kitchen to provide meal service to about 60 workers at the accident scene.
