Marysville Parks and Recreation Department has put together an eclectic lineup of fall classes taught by local instructors. Pre-registration is required for all offerings; phone (360) 363-8400 to sign up.
Trekking Tuesdays: Recreation Without Borders and Marysville Parks & Recreation are partnering for a new and exciting guided walking series especially designed for those who would like to explore our NW parks and trails in a leisurely and enjoyable way. Trekkers board the van and are taken to new locations for weekly walks Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon. The cost is $59 for 6 weeks. Trekking begins Sept. 14th.
Square Dance, Modern Western: Learn modern square dance while you socialize and make new friends. Join the Happy Hoppers on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 13 for 10 weeks of fun. The class costs $50 and will be held at the Totem Middle School Cafeteria, 1605-7th St. NE, Marysville.
Kindermusik : Kindermusik is for newborns up to the age of 7. A variety of classes are offered for different age groups on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 14. Class times and costs vary according to the specific class. All classes are held at the Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove, Marysville.
Belly Dance: Have you ever wanted to learn to belly dance? Local instructor Indigo will teach you about the music, culture, dances and movement from Egypt, Spain. Turkey and India. This 6-week class begins Monday, Sept. 20, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Ken Baxter Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. The cost of the class is $54 for beginning and $66 for continuing.
Hypnotherapy - Motivation to Exercise: Get motivated to exercise this fall with hypnotherapy. This workshop, taught by hypnotherapist Kathie Brodie, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Ken Baxter Community Center, 514 Delta Ave. The class cost is $30.
Basketry - Garlic Basket Workshop: Learn to twine and create your own garlic basket. This workshop, taught by Vickie Dewitt, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Jennings Park Barn, 6915 Armar Rd. The class cost is $25.
Declutter, Organize and Park in Your Garage: Has your garage become a catchall for everything? Learn the techniques to get your garage organized! Professional organizer Monika Kristofferson offers the workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St. The class cost is $20.
Tiny Tots: Children and parents will love this play group where children get to explore movement, crafts, stories and song! This 6-week program will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 22 at the Jennings Park Barn, 6915 Armar Rd. The program cost is $30.

Salsa for Everyone: Learn how to dance the Salsa in this energetic and exciting class. Individuals, couples and families are welcome. No experience needed. Wendy Messarina conducts the Thursday evening classes from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning Sept. 9. Cost is $50.
Belly Dance for Beginners: Shimmy, shake, and undulate while learning Egyptian-style belly dance from Shalaa. This fun and positive class allows women of all ages and body styles to strengthen their core and embrace their personal beauty. Classes are Wednesdays from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 8-Oct. 27. Cost is $90.
Hula from Tahiti: Learn the beautiful art of Tahitian dance, taught by Hinanui, a descendant of Tahitian royalty! Tie on a Pareo/Sarong and join in for a session of dance that is great for the waist, hips, and thighs. Tahitian Dance honors women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Classes are held Saturdays, Sept. 11-Oct. 30, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Cost is $90.
Pre-Natal Yoga: A class specifically designed for the journey of pregnancy, with postures, breathing techniques, and targeted core exercises taught by Kara Keating to strengthen the uterus and pelvic floor muscles, improve circulation and digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Enjoy the company of being with other pregnant women while learning in a calm and peaceful environment. Wednesdays, Sept. 8-Oct. 27, 4:15-5:15 p.m. Cost is $90.
Pilates/Yoga Fusion (For all levels): Instructor Vicki Morrow borrows from the best of both worlds--the core strengthening of Pilates and the flexibility/relaxation aspects of yoga--and brings them together in this Fusion class. At the end of the hour students feel longer, taller, more toned and relaxed. This is an excellent class for anyone, no matter what shape you are in. Wednesdays, Sept. 8-Oct. 27, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Fridays, Sept. 10-Oct. 29, 10-11 a.m. Cost is $90 per series, or sign up for both class series for $160 total.
Letterboxing (for ages 11 through adult): Letterboxing is a national treasure hunting game in which you hunt for hidden boxes that contain one-of-a-kind ink stamps that are stamped into your personal journal. Come and learn the ins and outs of letterboxing from instructor Kimberly Stevenson including: rules and etiquette, how to search for boxes, basic compass use and how to carve your own personal stamp. Please bring X-acto knife or a linoleum carving set, and a compass ( if you have one). The two classes are held in the community room at the Boys and Girls Club, 18513-59th Ave. NE, Arlington, on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $30.
Tiger Family Martial Arts Program (all ages): A great program for the whole family to get fit, have fun and learn some self-defense skills. Instructor Mitch Mayberry teaches the kicks of Tae Kwon Do, the basic moves of Karate, and the stances of Kung Fu with bag kicking and padded sword fighting for fun! Beginners class lasts 45 minutes, colored belts stay longer and learn more advanced skills. Class is for ages 4 and up, all levels and abilities welcome. Classes are held at the old Arlington High School, 135 French Ave., in the 'A' Building Commons. Thursdays, Sept. 16-Oct. 21, 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Fee is $60 for 6 weeks, plus an additional annual Amateur Athletic Union fee of $12 for youth, $14 adult.
Better Life Boot Camp: A fun and motivating athletic style approach to exercise utilizing all that the surrounding park area has to offer. Come enjoy this low choreography, high intensity workout that will burn lots of calories, increase muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility. Beginners to advanced participants will be encouraged to workout at their individual levels. Minimum age 18. Bring towel/yoga mat, water, dress in layers and athletic shoes. Classes are held rain or shine in Quake Park, 18501-59th Ave. NE, Sept. 8 to Oct. 29. $85 for 10-class punch card.
