Dirty dogs can come clean at the third annual Scrub-a-Mutt dog washing event, set for Saturday, August 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Strawberry Fields Athletic Park, 6100-152nd St. NE in Marysville.
The adjacent off-leash park, Strawberry Fields for Rover, will be the site of some activities as well.
Scrub-a-Mutt raises money for three local charities benefiting our four-legged friends-Old Dog Haven, NOAH and Marysville Dog Owners Group (M-DOG).
With the cancellation of this year's Poochapalooza, Scrub-a-Mutt organizers Jennifer Ward and Elizabeth Woche have added more vendor and exhibitor booths, canine activities and even a "Best in Show" dog contest.
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Department will present a K9 Unit demonstration at 3 p.m., led by K9 Deputy Bruno.
The day-long event also incorporates a dog food drive, with donations going to the Marysville Food Bank and Old Dog Haven.
M-DOG is a local nonprofit organization formed by area dog owners who maintain the Strawberry Fields for Rover off-leash dog park. M-DOG will host the Best in Show contest; memberships in the organization will be available during the day.
Old Dog Haven is a nonprofit dog rescue group in Arlington that provides loving and safe homes for abandoned senior dogs, seven years or older.
NOAH, the animal adoption center located in Stanwood, works toward stopping the euthanasia of healthy adoptable dogs and cats and promotes a strong spay/neuter program.
All pets must be on a leash for the Scrub-a-Mutt event. For a map and complete schedule of the day's events, visit www.scrub-a-mutt.org.
