Plump, juicy blueberries are ripe for picking, and Bryant Blueberry Farm and Nursery is hosting a one-day festival Saturday, July 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help celebrate. The farm is located at 5628 Grandview Rd. in Arlington.

Highlights of the day include picking blueberries in an idyllic orchard, exploring the many nursery items and varieties of blueberry plants for sale, and enjoying a delicious barbecue of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs available at a great price. Kids will love the many activities available on the farm including pony and hay rides, watching farm ducks wander the farm, feeding and petting goats and having their faces painted by Kimmy from Kimmy's Closet, 2009 winner of Nickelodeon's Parent's Pick for Best Entertainer.

Jamie Flint, owner of Bryant Blueberry Farm and Nursery, explained the value of small, family-friendly farms like his. "Small farms remind many customers of the farms they visited or worked at in their past. Now these parents and grandparents love to bring the kids to our farm to learn about farming and to show them how fun it can be to pick their own delicious berries!"

Bryant Blueberry Farm and Nursery is one of the family-owned farms along the Red Rooster Route. The Arlington farm uses sound environmental and sustainable agricultural methods and offers fresh picked, U-pick and frozen blueberries, fall raspberries, a children's playground, farm animals, picnic areas and a nursery.
