Eight young ladies who are vying for the titles of Strawberry Festival Queen and Princesses helped local preschoolers decorate some royal accessories in morning classes at Marysville United Methodist Church on March 2.

The girls enchanted the 3- to 5-year-olds as the youngsters colored and applied stickers to crowns and sashes made of butcher paper.

Kneeling beside the preschoolers or seated on tiny chairs, the high school contestants clearly enjoyed working with the kids and congratulating them on their diligent efforts. Soon all the children were wearing their crowns and sashes proudly as they posed for group photos.

The appearance was coordinated by Maryfest pageant chair Jodi Hiatt and vice-president Frank Michael and facilitated by the preschool director, Melody De Lappe. MUMC's preschool serves approximately 85 youngsters, with four morning classes and two in the afternoon.
