The Lakewood Sports Booster Club is asking for auction donations to help support athletic programs in the Lakewood School District. The benefit auction is planned for Saturday, March 13.

Auction donations may be big or small items. The club suggests gift certificates, sporting equipment, tickets to special events, artwork, vacation packages and sports memorabilia, but all donations are welcome. Cash contributions to offset the cost of the event are also appreciated.

Money raised at the auction will be dedicated to the high school sports programs according to the donor's interests. For instance, if a donor's daughter is a member of the cross country team, girls' basketball and soccer, and the donor's item sells for $300, each of the three sports would receive $100.

"Our goal is generate funds to support all the teams and to lower the need for additional fundraising events during the season for the athletes and their families," said auction chair Tara Mizell. "The auction is a perfect way to help all our athletes."
