Soroptimist International of Marysville is holding a "Get Acquainted" open house Friday, February 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Ken Baxter Senior Community Center, 514 Delta Avenue in Marysville.

Soroptimist International of Marysville is a volunteer service organization for business and professional women. Soroptimists volunteer their talents and energy to help women and girls live their dreams every day by giving them the resources to create positive change for themselves, their families and their communities.

The dynamic group of women support community projects that include Hospice, YMCA Invest In Youth, Marysville Food Bank, Historical Society, the Marysville Library and Relay for Life.

Hands-on projects include giving Christmas stocking and Easter baskets to Quilceda Meadows, a group home for developmentally disabled adults, and sponsoring the Christmas S.P.I.N. (Special People in Need) dance held at the YMCA. The group has also collected donations for Kloz 4 Kids St. Joseph's House, along with food for Operation Marysville Community Christmas (OMCC). Soroptimists also sponsored "Hams for the Hungry" food drive for the Easter Holiday.

As part of an international organization, Soroptimists also support initiatives to end domestic violence and human trafficking, disaster aid efforts and much more.
