Marysville city leaders helped dedicate the installation of new fitness equipment November 7 at Northpointe Park, located in the city's eastern foothills at 70th Street and 74th Drive NE.

The city installed nine fitness stations of Tri-Active outdoor fitness equipment and added a new playground system to the 28-acre park. The existing trail system has also been remodeled, and a new park entrance was added off Grove Street.

The fitness stations and playground equipment are the latest improvements recommended through the Marysville Healthy Communities Project, under a key priority to focus on increasing the number of physical activity opportunities that are accessible and free to the public, said Jim Ballew, Parks and Recreation Director. The course was designed with assistance from the staff of Summit Rehabilitation in Marysville, who provided guidance on appropriate equipment for the community in a park setting.

The cost for park improvements totaled $22,600, which were funded by a national grant. Trail and signage improvements were provided by Robert Viust of Marysville as his Eagle Scout project.

"This is a great opportunity for many residents to enjoy the benefits that this recently-installed fitness equipment provides," Ballew said. "This has been a great neighborhood collaboration."
