The Arlington Arts Council once again sponsored a Fall Scarecrow Contest among downtown merchants, offering a cash prize to encourage creativity and friendly competition. First prize this year went to The Local Scoop, with second place taken by Regency Care Center. In addition to the $100 cash prize, the winner's name is added to a plaque that will be displayed in the business for a year. The rainy day's activities also included a pumpkin pie baking contest, trick-or-treating along Olympic Avenue, and pumpkin carving.
