The American Red Cross is looking for real heroes--someone who performed life-saving CPR, pulled a person from a burning building, or rescued someone from a life-threatening situation. The agency is asking for help to identify local heroes for recognition at its December 3 annual Real Heroes Breakfast.

"Just being nominated is an honor in and of itself," said Chuck Morrison, Red Cross executive director. A selection committee makes the final determination and listing of honorees for the county-wide breakfast, "but that doesn't take away from the honor of each nominee being a special hero in their own community," he added. "So send those nominations in!"

Each year, the American Red Cross hosts a Real Heroes Breakfast in Snohomish County to bring attention to heroes in our community who have saved lives, committed selfless acts of courage and compassion and exemplify the mission and qualities of the Red Cross movement. This year's event is being held December 3 at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Marysville.

To nominate someone as a Real Hero, complete a nomination form online at www.snohomishcounty.redcross.org or e-mail cramerk@snohomishcounty.redcross.org.

Candidates must live or work in Snohomish County. The heroic act must have occurred between Oct. 1, 2008 and Sept. 30, 2009. Nominations deadline is October 1, 2009. Each person nominated will receive a certificate of recognition from the American Red Cross and selected nominees will be notified in advance of the breakfast.
