Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in north Snohomish County will be collecting food for local food banks every Saturday and Sunday in September as part of the Tyee District's Scouting for Food initiative.
"Our district goal is 1,000 pounds of food," said event coordinator Amy Stapay. "We have come close in years past; however, the need is greater and Tyee District will step up to the challenge."
Scouts will be stationed outside participating stores in Marysville, Arlington, Darrington, Lakewood, Smokey Point, Stanwood/Camano Island and Granite Falls. A list of preferred food items will be available for shoppers.
During the first weekend, September 5 and 6, look for scouts at local Safeway stores in Marysville, Arlington and Smokey Point. Throughout the month, Boy Scouts will be collecting food at Albertson's stores, Allen Creek Thriftway, Arlington's Food Pavilion, Fred Meyer, the Stanwood QFC, Marysville's Grocery Outlet, and Haggen's in Stanwood, Arlington and Marysville.
