If it's time to scrub that summertime dust and grime out of your dog's coat, bring your four-legged friend to Scrub-a-Mutt on Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Strawberry Fields Park, 6100-152nd St. NE in Marysville.

Scrub-a-Mutt is a fundraiser for three local dog advocate groups: M-DOG (Marysville Dog Owners Group), Old Dog Haven and NOAH (Northwest Organization for Animal Help). M-DOG is the local nonprofit organization that provides stewardship for the Strawberry Fields for Rover off-leash park. Old Dog Haven is an Arlington dog rescue group that provides loving and safe homes for abandoned senior dogs. Located in Stanwood, NOAH works to stop the euthanasia of healthy dogs and cats and promotes a strong spay/neuter program.

Adoptable dogs from both Old Dog Haven and NOAH will be on-site during the Scrub-a-Mutt event. A veterinary technician will also be on hand, providing nail trims for donated fees.

"We want to remind dog owners to have their pets on a leash," said Jennifer Ward, event co-chairperson. "A well-socialized, well-behaved dog is a pleasure to wash."

This is the second year for the fundraising event, although it has a new name. Wag 'n Wash was protected by copyright, so the organizers chose the new title of Scrub-a-Mutt for the annual activity.

Suggested donations for the dog washing event are $5 for small dogs and $10 for large dogs, although contributions of any size are welcome. Raffle tickets, T-shirts and hats will also be offered for sale, and the first 100 dogs washed will receive a doggie goodie bag.
