Marysville Parks and Recreation offers a fun option for family activities during the annual All-Comers Track and Field Meets running Thursday nights for four weeks starting July 23.

The All-Comers track meets offer a variety of running and field events for all ages. According to Dave Hall, the department's athletic coordinator, the annual events are a "perfect family activity." The track meets are one of several year-round low-cost opportunities provided through the Marysville Healthy Communities Project, aimed at promoting a more physically fit, nutrition-conscious community.

"Not only will you get healthier through fun competition against other individuals in your age group, but you'll also be helping the Marysville Healthy Communities Project in its goals," said Hall, adding, "Who knows? You might even set an All-Comers record!"

Runners can tackle hurdles at varying distances, sprints and relays. A long-distance run will be offered at the close of each meet. Field events include the long jump, standing long jump, softball throw, shot put and high jump

All meets are held Thursdays at 6 p.m. at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, 5611-108th Street. Participants can enter unlimited track and field events, for a total fee of only $3 per person.

Call the Parks office at (360) 363-8400 for more details or to pre-register, or register on site at 5:30 p.m. the night of the meet. Volunteers are also needed to help makes the meets a success, Hall added.
