Each year, United Way's Days of Caring brings together volunteers in a community-wide event to advance the common good and create positive change. This year's event will take place Friday and Saturday, September 18 and 19, at sites around the county.

Volunteers are encouraged to begin putting together teams of co-workers, family members, neighbors and friends to join more than 1,000 others in completing hands-on projects such as painting, building, cleaning and reading to kids. Last year, Days of Caring volunteers logged 3,237 hours worth approximately $63,000. They also showed community spirit and built teamwork while lending a much-needed hand to nonprofit agencies.

Volunteer registration is now open. Individuals and teams can log on to uwsc.org and click "Volunteer" to sign up for a project. Agencies can register their 2009 Days of Caring projects from now through August 15.

To get involved, contact Michelle Morris at The Volunteer Center at United Way of Snohomish County by e-mailing volunteer@uwsc.org or by phoning (425) 374-5534.

United Way is a community impact organization that has served Snohomish County for more than 68 years. In the last five years, United Way has raised more than $53.7 million for charitable organizations with a special focus on local health and human services.
