Hundreds of walkers and supporters gathered at Marysville-Pilchuck High School over the weekend of June 13 and 14 to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Teams pledged to have a person walking on the M-PHS track continuously, all day Saturday and through the night until Sunday morning.

Cancer survivors joined those who had lost loved ones to the disease to raise awareness and funds for research and treatment.

The local event's goal was $166,000, with teams holding fundraising events prior to the walk to help add to their donations. The WalMart team had already raised over $7,000 and planned to add to that figure.
