The first-ever Marysville Healthy Communities Challenge Day is set for Saturday, June 6, at Allen Creek Elementary, 6505-60th Drive NE, from 1 to 7 p.m. In conjunction with the city-sponsored event, Get Movin', an annual free summer program aimed at motivating families to adopt more active lifestyles, will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the neighboring YMCA, 6420-60th Dr. NE.

On the main stage in the Allen Creek Elementary Courtyard, Northwest gardening guru Ciscoe Morris from KING 5-TV's "Gardening with Ciscoe" will share tips on growing healthy vegetables from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and will also lead young people in prepping their own planter boxes provided at the event. Emmy-award winning songwriter and children's entertainer Tim Noah will appear live in concert at 5:30 p.m.
Let's Dish! will provide 200 meals for the Challenge Day fundraising dinner using donations of food from local suppliers and volunteer labor to prepare the meals. Silvana Meats, Garden Treasures, Dues Berry Farm, Let's Dish! and Haggens Bakery have all generously donated ingredients to allow Let's Dish! to prepare a nutritious and delicious dinner for attendees at the Marysville Healthy Communities Challenge Day.
Dinner tickets will be available for $5 each at the Let's Dish! tent the day of the event, with all proceeds donated to the Marysville Food Bank.
Victoria Mattson, co-owner of Let's Dish! Marysville and a member of the Marysville Healthy Communities sub-committee said, "We are honored and pleased to put together a meal for our Marysville community that stresses healthy eating using local food suppliers."
Jim Mattson, co-owner of Let's Dish! Marysville added "We will prominently display the nutritional information for this dinner, and we'll also have information in our display tent to help community members understand healthy eating habits."
