Merrill Gardens, a retirement community located at 9802-48th Drive NE in Marysville, is throwing open its doors and inviting the public to share in some unique June celebrations.

One Friday, June 5, attend "Guns and Hoses," a lunchtime event to honor firefighters and police officers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch is free for active and retired firefighters and police, and only $5 for other guests.

On Friday, June 19, join the staff for strawberries and ice cream to celebrate the Marysville Strawberry Festival. The ice cream social, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free, but donations will be accepted on behalf of the Marysville Historical Society.
