During March and April, the Marysville Community Food Bank participated in the Feinstein Challenge and local donors helped the food bank qualify for $40,000 in matching funds for dollars and food donated.

"The food and monetary donations will go directly toward feeding the hungry," said food bank director Joyce Zeigen. "And if anyone missed the Feinstein campaign, they can still give to the food bank year-round."

In fact, the next opportunity to support the food bank comes up Saturday, May 9, during the annual Letter Carriers food drive. Marysville residents can leave a donation of non-perishable food items near their mailbox, or drop off food donations at the main post office on State Avenue or the Smokey Point annex.

Finally, Zeigen reminded local gardeners to create a "Giving Garden" this year.

"Plant an extra row for the hungry and give your extra fresh produce to the food bank," she urged. "The food bank has vegetable seeds available for anyone who'd like to plant a Giving Garden."

The Marysville Community Food Bank is located at 4150-88th Street NE, just behind St. Mary's Catholic Church. Phone (360) 658-1054 or visit www.marysvillecommunityfb.com for more details.
